Animal Medical Center of Chicago's Pet Food Drive

In today's technologically advanced society, it is shocking to discover that hunger still exists in America. According to U.S. Census Bureau, 23 percent of people in Chicago live at or below the poverty level in 2013. (1) These impoverished people have extreme difficulties paying for utilities, food, rent and clothing. Sometimes they are forced to do without some essentials. Additionally, according to Pew Research Center, 45 percent of families earning below $30,000 per year own a pet. (2) Given their limited funds, some of these pets go to bed hungry or are abandoned at shelters.

Please help join Animal Medical Center of Chicago and their friendly challenge partner, Integrative Pet Care, to raise food for these hungry pets. Until March 31st, 2015, please drop off new bags or cans of pet food to Animal Medical Center of Chicago at 1618 West Diversey Parkway in Chicago. Your donation will to be given to the non-for profit organization Friendship Pet Food Pantry. Since 2013, this organization has been feeding over 787 cats and 472 dogs. (3) Donated pet food will be distributed to pet owners who can not afford to feed their pet on the third Friday of every month from 3 PM to 5 PM at 2733 W. Lawrence Avenue in Chicago.

If you cannot physically drop off a donation, but wish to help participate in this food drive, please call my office at (773) 525-3353 and you can purchase with your credit card a bag of pet food for just under $10 and we will gladly add it to our donations.

Please help those that cannot help themselves. Please help feed our furry friends who are hungry but loved!
