Salute Black Lives Matter

The Black Lives Matter movement is gaining a lot of momentum across the United States. African American people deserve the same respect as everybody else in the world. Thousands of people throughout the United States agree that Black Lives Matter. This is amazing considering the organization is relatively new and born out of the Trayvon Martin incident.

Organizers for Black Lives Matter are trying to take a stand against police brutality by interrupting Presidential candidates and taking their message to social media in record numbers. This could represent the changing of the old guard in the African American community. From familiar faces that always try to get in front of any cause to help propel their individual gains and preachers calling out Black Lives Matter for not cleaning up their own problems.

Why was this organization in a position to elevate the issue of police brutality in America? Many high profile leaders and politicians were scared to take on this issue because of potential political fallout. Some politicians did speak up, however no one made police brutality a campaign priority. People are being held accountable for their actions. America will never be the same because people are bringing attention to this epidemic of police involved violence against African American males.

Whenever a group has the ability to organize across the United States in mass numbers, then you have automatic power. This particular movement reminds us of the Black Panther Party from the late sixties. The Black Panthers were a dedicated group of young men and women that became increasingly tired of police suppression in the African American community. They decided to take a stand for what was right during their time in history.

The Black Lives Matter Movement is the 21st Century version of the Black Panther Party without the guns, but with thousands of people standing up for change. When you see young people from all races standing up for the voiceless people, then you have a major movement in the making. We should salute the efforts of the Black Lives Matter organization. The timing could not have been more perfect than right now. Freedom of speech is powerful in the U.S. In some countries, people don't have the liberty to voice their grievances to the powers that be. The best is yet to come for African American males, in particular, because never again will their lives not matter to the community as a whole. It's like having a big brother or sister watching over you all of the time.
