Get ready for some wintry weather, Chicago!
The Windy City is set to be hit by an arctic blast that is expected to bring chilly temperatures and the first accumulating snow of the season to the city on Monday afternoon, according to AccuWeather.
Temperatures are expected to plunge throughout the day, hitting an overnight low of 28 degrees, DNAinfo Chicago reports.
As the temperatures fall, morning rain is expected to turn into snow showers by 3 or 4 p.m., National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Krein told the Chicago Sun-Times.
While the snow is expected to be a "fairly light" dusting in the city, parts of Northwest Indiana could see heavier lake-effect snow beginning Monday evening and continuing into Tuesday morning, according to the Sun-Times. About an inch of snow could accumulate in parts of the city.
The weather could make for some slick spots and reduced visibility on area roadways just in time for the evening commute, the Chicago Tribune reports.
While any snowfall should be finished come Tuesday morning in Chicago, the city is expected to see its coldest day since March with high temperatures lingering in the lower 30s during the day, AccuWeather reports, ahead of a generally cold, dry week.
The city already saw its first measurable snowfall of the season on Oct. 22.
The average date of the first one-inch plus snowfall in the city is Dec. 2, according to the National Weather Service.
