Rockie Douglas Suspected In String Of Carjackings And Fatal Crash That Killed 11-Year-Old Boy (PHOTO)

Police have identified the man they say is responsible for a string of car jackings, including one that led to a crash that killed an 11-year-old Chicago boy on his way to a haircut.

Chicago and state police are looking for Rockie Douglas, 34, who was last seen driving a 2007 light blue Honda Accord with the Illinois license plate X144777, CBS Chicago reports.

On Saturday, 11-year-old Donovan Turnage was killed after police say Douglas crashed into the vehicle the boy was riding in with his father and older brother.

The Tribune reports Turnage was a passenger in a Chevy Suburban near the intersection of 55th and Halsted around 12:30 p.m. on their way to get Christmas haircuts when Douglas smashed into the car as he fled from police in a stolen vehicle.

“He was just too young to go,” the boy’s cousin, Richard Miller, told CBS Chicago. "[Douglas] just took an 11-year-old boy’s life before Christmas, and he was looking forward to Christmas.”

The force of the crash sent Turnage through a window and onto the sidewalk, the Tribune says. His older brother in the car cradled Turnage's head and told him to hold on but the young boy was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

“He took our angel from us,” said Turnage's mother, Annette, of the driver. Family said the fifth-grader at Morrill Math & Science School loved football and video games. Annette Turnage said her son had a pet bird and a pet turtle and loved being with his family.

“He touched a lot of people,” said Turnage's older brother. A neighbor told CBS Turnage was the kind of kid "you wanted to see grow up" and noted that he stood out as a helper. "He had something about him. You wanted to see him become something because you knew he was somebody."

After the crash, the Sun-Times reports Douglas stole another vehicle at a nearby gas station. He later abandoned the second vehicle on the Tri-State Tollway in Oak Brook. The Illinois State Police said he then flagged down a 2007 Honda sedan hijacking a third car.

DNAinfo Chicago reports Douglas' spree started Friday morning in Buena Park when he allegedly "forcibly removed" a driver from a green Dodge Caravan.

Authorities have described Douglas as "dangerous" and advised anyone with information to call 911 or contact Area Central Detectives at 312-747- 8380 or Illinois State Police at 630-241-6800, NBC Chicago reports.
