Obama Pays Tribute To NPR Legend Carl Kasell

President Barack Obama paid tribute in special fashion on Friday to a retiring NPR legend.

In a video message, Obama congratulated Carl Kasell on an "incredible career and a well-deserved retirement," adding that he would be missed.

Kasell announced in March that he was stepping down from his "Wait, Wait ... Don't Tell Me" post. He was a newscaster for 30 years on the radio network's "Morning Edition" show until 2009, and his overall career spans half a century.

"I have enjoyed every minute of it," Kasell said in a Friday NPR piece. "I never consider what I do as work. It has been fun, it's been rewarding and very fulfilling. ... I love my work. It's been good to me."
